For a change from the usual toasted tomato appetizer, try these baked bites. If you like, slice the baguette at an angle instead of making a straight cut.

This appie is great, tasty and easy. A real hit at our dinner party. Made as is except omitted the salt and used OM real bacon bits. Sprinkled some fresh minced parsley on top before popping in the oven. You can make the filler a day ahead and refrigerate until ready to use. A keeper.

A family favorite, I love cooking this guaranteed hit on the table! I leave out the bacon and it is fabulous!

I made these for a girls' get-together weekend, and they all raved about them. Next time though, I don't think it's necessary to toast the baguette first.

The warming time should toast the bottom of the bread just fine. Woodsy in WB, WI

Made this for the Superbowl XLV and it was a hit. I ate half of it myself! Used real bacon bits instead of crumbled bacon and did half montery jack and half mild cheddar for the cheese. Honestly, the different cheeses tasted the same, so either would work fine.

My hostess at our New Year's Eve party made these and they were scrumptious! She forgot to include the bacon (it was found in the microwave the next morning)...you think we were partying too much? Anyway, I asked for the recipe and will be making it next weekend for a small gathering I am hosting.

Made this with olive oil drizzled over slices of Italian Bread with a few Almonds over each slice. Toasted to lite brown, under broiler, then topped with crumbled bacon, green onion, more almonds, then lots of mozzerella cheese piled up. (no mayo) The bread was still warm from the oven, so it only needed another 2 mins. WOW it was so good. My children told me its a keeper.

DELICIOUS!! I made these on Christmas Eve- they were a huge hit- very flavorful. I toasted the bread with olive oil first and then added the mixture which I had made earlier- couldn't be easier and so good!!!
