I have to admit it—we’re simply crazy about our “step-up” island. The lower counter is used for food prep, and the upper counter offers an additional eating area. Installed beneath the island is an electric dustpan that sucks up debris and transfers it to a central vacuum system. Talk about handy!
Three pendant lights made of green tempered glass hang above the island and match the chandelier over the dining table. Recessed lighting in the ceiling and over- and under-cabinet lighting give the room a soft glow.
It’s the perfect atmosphere for preparing meals. The built-in microwave and double convection oven are a big help, whether I’m cooking for guests or just Art and me. I especially love making Italian-style lasagna and cheesy, stuffed green peppers when Marlise, her husband and our granddaughter, Madison Jade, come for dinner.
We’re thrilled to be able to share our lakeside kitchen with you! The 5 years of brainstorming and hard work certainly paid off.
