Taste of Home Magazine Launches Healthy Cooking
Milwaukee, WI - Taste of Home magazine announces the arrival of the first issue of Healthy Cooking (April/May 2008)—a magazine that gives readers what they need for a healthier life from people just like themselves.
Interest in wholesome eating and healthy cooking has never been stronger. With its mix of recipe and non-recipe content, provided by real home cooks and backed by tips and information from nutritionists and health experts, Healthy Cooking makes it easier to manage medical conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension and makes living a healthier lifestyle simply delicious!
"We introduced Healthy Cooking in response to our readers' desire for a selection of lighter food along with good nutrition advice and ideas to help us live healthier lives," said Editor-in-chief Catherine Cassidy. "But we still kept it real. Healthy Cooking embodies the same American pass-it-over-the-fence feeling as Taste of Home: a friendly exchange of dishes, stories, and tips from home cooks across the country backed by substantial information from the experts."
Every issue of Healthy Cooking will have five distinct sections combining easy healthy recipes with tips and information on healthy living:
- "Lighten Up" - Filled with lightened recipes, "Meal Makeovers," ideas on how to still eat what you won't give up, and sensible hints, tips and more from Taste of Home's Test Kitchen experts
- "Eat Right" - Recipes from home cooks and healthy-living testimonials to help readers make better choices every day
- "You Win" - Eight prize-winning dishes from our readers in every issue
- "Live Well" - Recipes and advice for specific health needs such as gluten allergies or diabetes
- Plus a Seasonal Special Feature section focusing on what's fresh and current, like "Power Foods"
Every recipe in Healthy Cooking cuts down the fat and calories while keeping the flavor in. From Oregano Olive Chicken and Asian Turkey Lettuce Wraps to Makeover Cheese-Stuffed Shells and Rich Mocha Cake to contest-winning recipes for Shrimp 'n' Noodle Bowls and Easy Beef Stroganoff to "Power Food" recipes for Vegetarian Sloppy Joes and Black Bean 'n' Corn Quesadillas, there are more than 76 recipes in the premiere issue—every one tested in the Taste of Home kitchens. Each recipe also includes nutrition facts, diabetic exchanges, and handy icons that highlight low-carb, low-sugar, low-fat and more. All ingredients are available at local grocery stores.
Taste of Home also has a brand new healthy living and cooking channel on the Taste of Home web site sponsored by Healthy Cooking, where readers can find more recipe makeovers, healthy menu planning ideas, advice for special diet needs, and extra tips to help you lead a healthier lifestyle.
For millions of Americans, Taste of Home is America's recipe box. They feel a connection through its pages with other home cooks just like themselves. Healthy Cooking starts with a Taste of Home and celebrates this same connection between food, family, and friends but invites readers to share a healthier way of life. Eating well never tasted so good!
