Dear Peggy: Have you ever done a magazine on "freeze-ahead" meals? I like to spend a day cooking so meals at night are quick and easy. —V.W., Hartington, NE
I like to do the same thing. Even though it's just my husband and me, I like to spend time in the kitchen on Sundays preparing individual portions of fruit, side dishes and other lunch items that are quick to pack on busy mornings as well as dinners that reheat well after getting home from work.
We don't have any magazines that are specifically for "freeze-ahead" meals, but Simple & Delicious does sometimes run a feature that focuses on meals that can be made ahead and frozen. They also put a small snowflake icon next to recipes that would be good candidates for freezing and reheating. Another option is to use the Recipe Finder on our Web site to look for these types of recipes:
- Under Recipe Finder, click on the "Browse Recipes" tab
- Click "Category" which appears in the dropdown box just below "Browse Recipes"
- Select "Preparation" then the "Freezer" check box
- Click on "Get Recipes" at the bottom of the page
The search results will include all types of recipes that are frozen in the method so that you can sort them by clicking on the "category" column heading. When I did the search, main dishes started on page 68.
Search recipes by preparation method (i.e. freezing).
