Remember when foods were made from scratch? The aroma of bread baking, a homemade soup on the stovetop, a pie cooling on the counter: Wonderful things that take us back to those good-old days...a time when preservatives and artifical colors weren't a part of most meals. We remember those days; it's one of the reasons why we're introducing our "Healthy Cooking From Scratch" contest!
We can't wait to try your from-scratch breads, cakes, biscuits, cookies and muffins. Homemade soups, pasta sauces and salad dressings are perfect, too!
We're looking for pies with crispy crusts, handmade noodles and even stovetop puddings. Make it without mixes or convenience items, and your scratch recipe might just net you some scratch!
See the two ways to enter (below). Entries for the "Healthy Cooking From Scratch" contest must be postmarked by March 15, 2010. Winners will be announced in our December/January 2011 issue.
1st Prize: $600
2nd Prize: $400
3rd Prize: $200
Runners-up: A 1-year subscription or gift subscription to Healthy Cooking

If you email or mail your recipe, be sure to print the name of the contest as well as your full name, street address and phone number, including area code, with each entry. Be specific with measurements, directions and the size of cans, packages and pans so others can successfully make your recipe. Include a few words about the origin of your recipe.
