Which recipes are timeless classics? We're looking for tried-and-true, all-time favorites that everyone should master. You know what we mean: the recipes you pass on to your children when they leave home or give to newly married couples or pull out during family gatherings. Enter your recipe—12 ingredients or fewer—to win $500.
Show us your timeless family classics in these categories:
- Meats. Dive into your recipe files or family photos for inspiration. Maybe you hold the secret to the best roast chicken, grilled steak or perfect spaghetti and meatballs. Tell us how do you do it (and who showed it to you).
- Soups, Salads, Sides. Stir up ideas for the comfort food category. Is your tomato soup or grilled cheese sandwich a classic? What about mashed potatoes, baked beans or a cool Caesar salad?
- Sweets. Show us the favorite happy ending that holds a place in your family history, whether it's pie with a flaky crust, a divine batch of divinity, a chocolate cake beyond belief or a pudding, ice cream or cookie recipe.

Contest Rules
You may enter more than one recipe. If you email or mail your recipe, be sure to print the name of the contest as well as your full name, street address and phone number, including area code, with each entry. Be specific with measurements, directions and the size of cans, packages and pans so others can successfully make your recipe. Include a few words about the origin of your recipe. Share any compliments it's received, plus any variations you recommend. If any duplicates are received, the entries with the earliest postmarks will be considered.
