A bushel or a peck of apples yields a bounty of recipe ideas. That's why we picked them as the topic of the Country Woman "Apples Aplenty" contest.
Any recipe featuring fresh or dried apples qualifies. That includes dishes using apple pie filling, applesauce, apple juice or cider and preserves such as jelly and butter.
Maybe desserts bring fall flavor to your table, such as apple pie, cake, kuchen, cookies, cobbler, tarts, turnovers dumplings or caramel apples.
Go ahead and tempt our judges with breads—apple pecan muffins, a cinnamon apple loaf or fruity scones, rolls, strudel or pancakes. We'll consider condiments, too, including sweet and chunky apple jelly or butter and sassy apple raisin chutney.
Why not polish your apple-rich salads and entrees? Share apple-glazed pork chops, chicken with apple-sage stuffing or classic apple walnut salad. Branch out to beverages like warm spiced cider, cinnamon apple tea and an apple orchard smoothie.
Send us your most apple-tizing recipes postmarked by our contest deadline, December 1, 2009. We'll announce the winners in the August/September 2010 issue of Country Woman.
